Guess I'm updating for the sake of updating cos my last post was back in April. Realised that non-peak doesn't mean knock off at 6pm. =(
Was looking through headhunt magazine and noted that most of the job offerings are rather specific in nature. They include Derivative documentation, Reinsurance sales, Human resource management, marketing and sales. If I were to be employable in the future at other financial institutions, I'd better prepare myself for the next step in employment.
There must be a backup plan as things might not be as rosy one year down the road. Circumstances can change without warning and one must be in control of one's fate and not let the wind steer the ship. This is especially true after knowing that not everyone gets promoted even after working hard for one year.
Audit in itself may present learning opportunities in abundance. However, if one does not intend to stay in financial audit/internal audit/financial accting, he must plan to further his specialisation somewhere where career advancement possibilities exist.
At the end of the day, interpersonal relationships count for much more in the businessworld. This is one area that I am weak in and probably need more training on. The ability to mask one's emotion is important. Though superficial, such an ability allows one to interact wih most people. The comforting point to note is that 90% of people do it and that it is one way to climb to the top.
